Former NHS Nurse and manager now contemplating the NHS from outside

Why is life at work so manic?

Despite this being a short working week after Monday’s bank holiday I am feeling really tired this week. There never seems to be a spare minute in the office when the phone isn’t ringing or an email arriving, or the boss isn’t appearing with ‘another idea’ bless her!

At the moment all the nurses are suddenly deciding they really need to do a course this autumn, despite in many cases not having mentioned anything when previously asked. The university and those providing the funding (grandly named WDD) have come up with the idea that all the application forms should be sent out by us along with a funding form onto which we have to stick yellow stickers to the value of the credits for the course. Confused? You soon will be. Then of course all this needs to be done before the start of the new academic year and of course our dept administrator is on holiday this week. Still stickers are more fun than real work!

Only one day to the weekend, yipee and tomorrow night I am taking a trip down memory lane by going to the annual get together organised by my practice teacher from my district nurse student days. I’ll be catching up with people I havent seen in ages which should be fun. It’s late now so I think I’ll finish this tomorrow. Night all!

  2. Thanks,

Just been watching what is happening in New Orleans. I am horrified to see that it is looking like a third world state with people apparently abandoned to die from lack of water, food and hygiene. What is happening in your country?

I will have a look at your site!–>
