Another Quiz

Posted in Blogging, memes at 10:13 am by Julie

This is about what kind of inner child you are:

Your Inner Child Is Happy

You see life as simple, and simple is a very good thing.
You’re cheerful and upbeat, taking everything as it comes.
And you decide not to worry, even when things look bad.
You figure there’s just so many great things to look forward to.

How Is Your Inner Child?

Now that seems pretty cool to me!

Managing the diary

Posted in NHS, Nursing, Work at 9:45 am by Julie

What kind of diary do you keep? Does having an electronic version instead of a paper one make it any better organised? Do you have any more space in it? My main problem is saying no to things and trying to fit more into a day than really is physically possible. A couple of years ago my hubby bought me a PDA, I spent ages painstakingly putting my contacts and diary dates in (the IT depts of the NHS aren’t always keen to allow such things to be connected to their PCs)only to lose everything when the battery ran out and my home laptop died!

So I went back to the trusty paper and pencil version. I have a very nice filofax and always use a pencil to put in entries so that they can be rubbed out when something is cancelled. Speaking of which, I am becoming quite a sad person who is almost ready to cheer when a meeting is cancelled at short notice and I find myself unexpectedly in the office.

So this week’s diary; how does it look following my two enforced days off work last week? Well busy. Tomorrow I am doing some short listing, I haven’t yet seen the 29 applications so reading them before 10 will be a challenge. Tomorrow afternoon I am off to learn about heart failure pathways. Our PCTs are going to be employing some specialist heart failure nurses and my boss thought it would be interesting for me to go along. It also helps me to get up to date with current treatments etc in this field. All good for the CPD (see my other blog).

On Tuesday I have a couple of meetings but will be in the office for most of the day. I will need it too. All bets, on how many emails will be waiting in my inbox are off. I sometimes wonder about the email explosion. I just get so many of the things it is sometimes difficult to weed out the vital from the important to the downright trivial. As soon as you start to reply people suddenly send you more. Still more of that when I actually do it!

Busy as my diary is though and much as I sometimes complain, I actually really enjoy what I am doing and do like the challenge; which is just as well.
