Blogging anniversary!
So tomorrow is the first anniversary of my life as a blogger! On Saturday 27th August 2005 I joined blogger and made my first tentative entry. Little did I know what a complete compulsion the whole thing would become or that I was entering such an amazingly diverse world. When I started and called my blog ‘Life in the NHS’, I thought it would be great fun to write about my work, and my life in general. I thought it would be most amazing if anyone actually read the stuff I wrote, though never really thought they would.
I think this is where my biggest challenge lies. Most bloggers are writing for an audience, not just for themselves, otherwise you might as well just write a personal diary and lock it away (I wasn’t very good at those as a teenager). But when you write about work (particularly) there is a slight dichotomy between wanting to be noticed and fearing that you might be noticed only too well. This was highlighted for me this week, I really want to write about the disciplinary hearing I had to present the management case at this week, but actually I can’t. The chances are that no one I know will ever read it, but actually I can’t take that chance.
As I reach my anniversary then, I am seeking to re-evaluate what I want to do here and think of where my blog might take me in the future. As far as work is concerned, I am about to go through a process which will probably see me having to reapply for my own job. Well I can’t see why I won’t be able to write about that. There are changes happening and new leadership emerging I might not be able to be very candid about but we will have to see. There is my MSc in Strategic leadership, I am half way though and should right now be writing good and profound words in an assignment (I will shortly honest)! I guess as I approach the climax of the course with the dissertation there will be plenty to write about here. Lastly there is the life I call home. In a way I would like to write exclusively about that, but I guess the fun of this whole thing is that you can be different people in different posts. You can have fun, you can be serious and somewhere somehow someone flits past your site and reads some of it.
I think I am trying to say that I am not finished with this whole blogging thing yet, I have plenty more to say, so here is to my second year of blogging. Thanks for reading and thanks for commenting. Please come back and visit me soon!

bit late as just catching up with my blogroll, but just to say that I am glad that you are going to continue with your blog! And I hope that it won’t take another whole year before you are more happily settled in your job (or another).
