Give me a break

Did you know you can get low calerie spam? I discovered this while searching for this picture, I also discovered that Spam is 70 years old this year, how about that? Personally I never liked the stuff, it wasn’t something that we were served up at home, though I think I had it in sandwiches while visiting people who couldn’t afford proper ham, or perhaps they just liked it.

Anyway this post is not about the contents of a sandwich, but about the spam that I am being bombarded with on this site, and let me tell you it is no more palatable than the pink stuff! Luckily, or maybe because WordPress comes with a spam filter, most of this stuff gets caught before it appears as a comment on my blog, though the odd one gets through. Having in the past deleted genuine comments caught up with the adverts for insurance and medicines of all kinds imaginable I tend to quickly browse through the contents of my spam folder but this is getting to be a challenge even for me! Yesterday after noon there were 160, and by this morning at 7.15 am (I am a morning person ok) I had another 61, is there to be no relief?

I am not stupid, I don’t click on the links unless of course they get disguised as genuine comments, only for me to be redirected to some kind of porn site (will me having written the aforementioned cause a bombardment in this area?), and that is not a pleasant experience. I may be a nurse, but that I do not need before breakfast or even after for that matter.

Who are the people that put this garbage together, what do they gain from it? After all, if I need my house or car insured, and I click on the link provided in my spam filter, it will be done. I don’t need to do it again tomorrow. Mind you if I am looking for medicines perhaps I’d need more already, but why wouldn’t I get them from my doctor, or search for them myself on the web? Maybe I am trying to be too clever here, maybe I am trying to analyse the analysable, who knows? What I do know is that I am getting irritated, and you wouldn’t want me to get really mad!
