Failed my challenge
But in my defense, I would like the fact I was out enjoying myself last night, taken into account. The approach to Christmas and people who work together, know each other and hopefully like each other go out together for some kind of festive party time celebration. I use the term party in my case quite loosely. I am in my mid forties and my colleagues / friends are of a similar kind of age and in my opinion a meal and time to chat in a pleasant restaurant is a more appropriate type of event than the traditional stereotype office party where everyone gets blind drunk, flirts with each other and lives to regret it. I wonder if the latter is really a myth, but then what would I know? I work in the NHS and have no experience of Christmas parties in any private sector company. Never the less, I had a great time. Work is such an inhibitor of the conversation not related to work, I find. When like me, you like the sound of your own voice there are never enough hours in the day to have those chats and conversations with work colleagues you would like. Plus you need a relatively safe place for the giving and receiving of gossip and to catch up on news. The fact that this includes more food than you should really be consuming on a slimming world type regime is a bonus and the fact that you are driving so cannot consume much wine is no hindrance to a great night out.
So one day missed, but I’ll make up for it don’t you worry. Daily posts at life in the nhs continue. The great cartoon above is reproduced from: http://www.nicholsoncartoons.com.au/
