When our children are little, they often come out with little gems which we tell our friends about and have a good smile. During the life of my soon to be 18 year old son there have been plenty. I have to say though, that it is perfectly possible for a different kind of gem to be uttered at this advanced age. I offer two from today:
Mum to Matt – “I will need to go to the supermarket yet again today”
Matt to Mum – “so soon? Why?”
(I wonder who it is then that eats all the food and consumes copious soft drinks from the fridge? But then it could be the friends)
Mum to Matt (observing a slice and a half of toast on a plate) “you haven’t eaten your breakfast “(this was at 4pm and breakfast was taken at 7.30am)
Matt to Mum – “I’ve eaten most of it (er no, actually most of it is left on the plate), could I have 3 pieces?”
Mum to Matt – “Er no, you can’t have 3 pieces “(neither 1 slice or 2 will ever be 3 once cut in half)
Matt to Mum – “can’t you eat the 4th piece, then I can have 3?”
Priceless!
